I am a 14 year old girl who is about 15 pounds over weight tops. Next year I am going to the highschool and I don't want the big thighs and slightly larger stomach. I also don't want to have the excess fat for summer parties! Sit ups and legs lifts help some but I am one of those people whose in every extra-curicular activity and don't have the time to do 300 situps and leg lifts a night for 3 months (and then see little difference!) If you have any ideas or ways to help me lose the 15 lbs. before being in a bathing suit somewhere with friends is inevitable, please send me any advice you have!!!
Thanks so much!!!
Hi, you mention extra-curricular activites but you don't mention what they are. I'm assuming they are not sports or some form of physical excercise. Well, that's what you need to do. Losing weight at your age should be fairly easy because your metabolism should still be excellent. While doing things like situps and crunches will help, aerobic excercise is your best bet. Find something that you like to do. Do you like to swim? Dance? Walk? Even walking 1 hour a day will do wonders. Even 1/2 hour.Enroll in a dance class. So eat right and get some aerobic excercise into your schedule and you will see results.
Good luck to you but please don't become obsessed with your weight!
Thanks Renae for replying, the only thing is that I am in a dance class, and in soccer, I also take walks with my friend and dog up by our local hospital almost everyday! Thats why I resorted to health message board! Thanks anyways, I appreciate you taking your time to reply, it's always nice!
Renae is right, DON'T BECOME OBSESSED ABOUT YOUR WEIGHT!!! Depression will only make it worse!! You do sound active. Do these activities raise your heart rate? If not, 20 minutes a day of a fun aerobic routine can do WONDERS. Richard Simmons is a little hookie, but his 1st video is one of the best I've seen for ease and enjoyment. Also, keep an I on your carb intake. At your age, I thought just fat and sugar was bad and everything else was OK. Little did I know that bread, pasta, rice and potatoes all turn into sugar!!! They are also addictive, so the more you eat, the more you want!! They also tend to make you tired & irritable of eaten too much. Cut back on them and see how much better you feel! GOOD LUCK IN HIGH SCHOOL! Cindy
Thanks a lot! I am a big carb eater and I didnt even really think of that. The work out tapes are an idea, and my mom has a lot of Taebo (I don't really know how to spell it!) ones too! I'm working on not paying attantion to it too much but it is hard! Thanks again! (Thanks, Renea too!) I am going to a river lot swimming party today :0\ , wish me luck!!!
Hi Freckles14: Hope you had great fun at the swim party. I think Taebo tapes are great. I have a few myself. Just remember, they're a pretty intensive workout and not always easy to get thru when you 1st start exercising. The main point is DON'T GET DISCOURAGED!! Attitude is everything!! When I started Taebo, I used the instructional video only for the first 5-6 sessions, then I worked up to 50% of the regular tape for 5-6 sessions. By that time, my muscles were used to working out and I was able to complete the whole tape. That's one of the reasons I like Richard Simmons so much. The routines are easy for ANYONE to get thru on their 1st try, no matter what level of fitness you're at. It's fun - feels more like dancing than exercising - but you definitely feel your heart rate rise as well as your body temperature. Give these a try. Your Mom can probably go on E-bay for you (or Amazon.com) and buy used copies really cheap. By the way, you had mentioned in your 1st thread about doing sitsups, leg lifts, etc. and never seeing any results. Those types of exercises are great for TONING, but don't really do much for reducing. You probably had nice tone muscles underneath a little bit of extra weight. If you continue doing these types of exercises (in moderation, don't overdo) while performing aerobics, you should be able to reach your goals by next school year!!! Good Luck!!!
I know what you are going through. I play soccer and I take my dog on long walks everynight as well, and I was still having trouble to lose weight. Right now though I"m trying this product called Quick Slim and it seems to be helping a lot. I lost 14 pound within the first month of taking them, I"m going on month 2 now. Good Luck
