some easy tips to get you going

i decided to take some tips i read on this forum along with some that i have from my personal experience.

avoid/ get rid of:

red meat- chicken and fish are the healthiest way to go

carbonated drinks/sugar drinks- as of now i only drink water, low fat 2% milk and natural juices( best if not from concentrate)you would be surprised how getting rid of the coke and ice tea can help you.

fried foods- this is hard for me, but it is pretty obvious. if you are going out to eat get broiled, baked, or grilled chicken or fish, eliminating as much oil from you diet as possible is definitely something you should do.

fast food- i stay way from all of them except maybe subway, i love subs and found that getting them made at your local supermarket is a great alternative too, put it on wheat!

frozen food/canned food- any type of preserved food is something that is clearly unhealthy and loaded with sodium which retains water and gives you the bloated look.

some tips in general:
don't eat 5 hours before bedtime, it helps to brush your teeth after your last meal, that way you have nothing in your mouth but the taste of fluoride.

drink lots of water- sorry, but it's repeated over and over again for a reason, drinking lots of water increases your metabolism by hydrating the kidneys letting the liver do it's job of metabolizing food we eat. when we dont drink enough water, the liver takes over some of the kidney's functions slowing our metabolism.

exercise whenever you can-obvious, but true, take the stairs...park further in a parking lot, walk to the store, go out with friends more, any type of activity burns calories, i do reccommend exercise and the gym but i also reccommend doing the little things that will burn calories too!

swimming is great for toning up, night swimming is nice if you want to avoid the sun.

don't get obsessed with weighing yourself! this is how i got in trouble last time, just keep doing what you are doing, when you feel like you can go and weigh yourself do it, don't do it out of curiousity.

remember the time is now! every time i start to lose weight i realize how much i have let myself go, and how much more i have to lose...remember that this will keep happening unless you stay committed.
