yes very bad, see my reply to your other post. When faced with lack of food beyond an occasional (once every couple of months) day of fasting/ super low calorie( under 1200 cal a day) the body slows it self down to use less calories and live longer. Another interesting thing happens after about 3 or 4 days of fasting or semi-fasting you feel GREAT, a burst energy and euphoric, this is the bodies effort to get you to be able to leave where you are and go find food, or hunt something down and kill it. This is not a good thing even though it may feel good, since its about the same time the body is starting to use muscle, in some cases heart muscle too.
Several studies have shown we absorb less calories if 6 meals are consumed instead of three....if there is a steady supply of food coming in it rells the body there is plenty of food around and encourages a raise in metabolism
