Hi everyone. This is my first post on this board and I'm hoping you'll all be able to help me out a bit. I'm trying to lose a bit of weight just as you all are doing, and I'd like some advice on how to do it. I don't own a scale and haven't stepped on one since the day of my second son's birth, and I'm not sure that I ever want too!! I don't know how much I weigh. I think I'm around 155 though. Anyway, the number isn't what's really important to me, the fact that I don't feel comfortable in my own skin, and none of my clothes fitting right after the winter is what's bothering me.
I'm not sure how I should even start, or what to do. I have been going for walks with my dog, but to be honest, I feel like I'm getting bigger. I'm not sure if I'm eating wrong or just not exercising enough or what.
SO...I want to start out new. Today is actually the start of my weekend and I'm ready to make a few changes. I need all the help I can get so if anybody's got any advice for me, I'd really appreciate it.
Nice to see a fellow Ontarian around
I've been to this board a while back and found it pretty useful/informative. Just found it again, so...hoping it'll help motivate me some more again
How old are your kids? I know it makes a big difference with what we can and can not do. Mine are almost 10 and almost 2, so I'm still a bit limited with the baby. I walk alot...used to walk more before we moved, but I'm easing back into it. Don't walk every day again yet, but when I do go out it winds up being an hour to an hour and a half altogether.
Not sure what to tell you as far as what you could do. I guess it depends what you've tried before. I've done Weight Watchers with moderate success, and have seen some there have amazing results. Right now I'm trying weight loss supplements again because I know I tried them for a short while when I was doing WW and lost almost double what I was before. NOT a good idea if you're nursing probably though, and they do make you jittery off the start a bit...or they do me. Not enough to alarm me usually, but...enough to know I took them.
Anyway, let us know what you've tried in the past that hasn't worked for you, if you have tried things. Also, how do you eat? Don't think that eating little will work, because it almost has the opposite affect. Okay...enough from me for now. Welcome, and I hope to see you around
steph..my kids are 2 and 3. And, I haven't actually tried anything before..up until recently, I might not have been a supermodel, but I felt comfortable with myself. As for how I eat, well, I don't eat a lot of junk, I eat a lot of fruits...I usually eat a bowl of cereal for breakfast, and lunch is usually a muffin or salad, and dinner is chicken or pasta, something like that. I do drink a lot of milk, and a lot of juice, and when I want to snack, which isn't that often, sometimes I'll have a couple (2 or 3) cookies, or popcorn (microwave), or some fruit cocktail. I know some of the stuff I eat isn't the best or healthyest (sp?), but I also don't want to give up on eating the things I like to eat. The one thing I have found is that the second I say to myself "I'm not eating that" then it drives me crazy and I want it!!
I hope this information helps
First, if you want to lose weight. you need to cut back on Carbohydrates (pasta, potatoes, rice, bread... anything with a lot of starch)
If you are using whole white bread, switch to wheat. Drink 8 or more glasses of water a day. Stay away from SODA, even diet soda. Some people here say to limit your calories to 1500-1700 a day, and stay away from baked goods.
For exercise, the best way to burn fat is cardio, or aerobic exercise. If you have any aerobic tapes in your home use them, or if you have Tae-Bo, try it. I love Tae-Bo, it's fun and give's you a nice workout! If you have a treamill try walking/jogging, or jog down the street.
I'm not too good at this, but any help you can get is good, eh?
