i watched larry king last night and heared dr.atkins say meds.mean a slow weight loss i am sure he said that i take high blood pressure meds.and stomach meds.well in all take 7pills a day so i really cant understand why meds.would slow down weight loss can anyone help me about that and he should have said by no means go off the meds.which i am sure people would not do that no matter how much weight you want to loss or i would hope not this is day 3 of the atkins diet and i feel good and he never said anything about how much water to drink i dont drink anymore thay 6-8oz.a day because i hold fluid so bad so my dr. told me not to drink anymore than that so i dont because like i said hold to much fluid so if you can help about the meds. would love to hear from you . god bless you all that read the post.
dietgirl what I think Dr. Atkins meant is that it could make you lose weight at a slower rate. Doesn't mean that you wont and some people lose just as fast on different med...I was watching two shows at once last night. So I didn't hear all of the show. And as of the water thing. Drink 64 ozs. of water and then drink 8 ozs. more for each 25 pounds you are over weight. I think..Hmmm the more you drink the more you will lose fluid, so I am not sure what your Dr. is meaning. If you hold fluid drinking lots of water will help you get rid of the fluid.
Good Luck dietgirl...
thanks dixie but were i have high blood pressure it is to much for my body all that water dont get me wrong i went with water in hand drinking all the time and the doctor said i did not need it to much he just wanted me to drink the 6-8oz.a day and that was it so i will go with him on that i notice i feel better just having that much to drink and i drink tea but i have been on the diet 3days now and feel great so i was just wanting to know about the meds. thanks away o yell i had a great breakfast today

off subject a bit, but noticed dixie was flipping between two shows, I was too!! LOL, having had followed the akins before and having read both books, i was more interested in what the viewers would ask him. I was flipping between atkins and joe millionaire, which by the way is sooooooooo funny, in the concept that the girls are such 'golddiggers'! Cant wait to see the end.
sorry to take off subject
When one has water weight, the body is holding onto water to conserve it. If you drink more water, it tells the body there is ample water, and it will release the water. You need to drink more water, not less, when you have water retention! That doctor was wrong.
Also, one needs more live raw foods, not a way to eat a waffle. It is OK to have a way to eat a waffle, but really if you want to seriously lose weight, we have to change the way we eat completely, and get the weight gainer foods out of our houses.
freind if you noticed it was a good waffle not a bad one i fix it on the waffle grill it had 2 carb.and the recipe is
1/2cup of crushed pork rinds
1-2 tablespoons of cream
1-2packs of splenda
and some cinnamon
mix together and fix on the grill so good and 2 carb.
i am doing the atkins diet .
I agree with friend on the last part of the post, but Iam and RN and I dont agree with the water retention part...........just an opinion!! I agree you need water and plenty of it, but have you ever retained water? If the body is not eliminating it and you drink excess where is it gonna go without a lasix or somthing? Water is a good thing, but when you are bloated excess is just that excess. Just an opinion not a RX or a diagnosis, But as a medical professional I dont think it is very nice to tell someone that a physician they know and trust are wrong, again just an opinion. Iam doing the Adkins diet along with my hubby, and we have had great success so far, it was Dr. recommended and I know my Dr. knows what he is talking about, I think just like anything it works great for some and not for others. I have a friend who was on Adkins and lost 45 lbs (not all on induction) and just as we all know she changed her eating habits, still has carbs, but just watches them. Have a good evening<p>[This message has been edited by neise (edited 01-07-2003).]
