When you first start running, you need to be careful not to overdo it. This is a common mistake. It might even be a good idea to start with walking. Walk for five or ten minutes as a warm-up. Then break into a slow run. If you feel too much stress, go back to walking. You can speed up and slow down based on how you feel. And if your muscles are sore the next day, take the day off or take as much time as you need. Then over a long period of time, it should get easier.
Don't exercise on an empty stomach and don't exercise on a full stomach either. I think the best time is early in the morning after you've had something to eat. After eating, you might wait 15 minutes or half hour, depending on how much you eat. If you feel very full wait 'til that feeling goes away. And don't eliminate fat from your diet because you need some fat in order to burn fat. A balanced diet is best, containing carbohydrate, fat and protein.
