Should My Metabolism Concern Me?

Hey everyone. I'm over half way to my goal weight!! I've lost 50lbs and hope to loose another 40. I started at 250lbs and I'm aiming to end up at 160 (I'm female, tall.. 5'11"). I've done this all the right way.. changed my diet and started to exercise. I eat really healthy most days.. protein, veggies, yogurt, low fat stuff.. and some days I will still eat whatever I want.. chocolate, burgers, pasta.. whatever.. but I make sure to only consume 1300-1700 calories a day. I exercise (cardio mostly) 5 days a week, sometimes more. I've gone from a size 18/20 to a size 13/14. Only thing is, it's taken me a really long time. I started in October 2010. 10 months ago. In the first couple months I lost 10 lbs each month, but from there my weight loss slowed dramatically, and some months I've only lost a couple pounds. I'm sure I've gained some muscle weight, but still.. this seems slow to me.

I'm 24 years old, female, and I currently weigh 196lbs. According to "calories burned per day" calculators, I should be burning somewhere between 2300-2600 calories a day with my somewhat active lifestyle and little exercise... and with the exercise I do get, I should be loosing 2lbs a week. Yet there is no way I'm burning that much or losing that much.

The only time I've really gone off my diet was in March when I went on vacation. At that time I ate 2000-2300 calories a day for 2 weeks and maintained my weight. I also record and measure every thing I eat. Every last bite. So there is no "eating more than I think I'm eating" going on here. Quite frankly I'm surprised that I've been able to keep up with this for as long as I have without seeing much of a result some months.. but I'm determined to get healthy. It's not JUST about the weightloss, and as long as it comes off, it comes off. Time isn't that important. But the rate it which I'm losing has me concerned about my health. Is there something wrong with my metabolism? Should I push my doctor to screen for thyroid or other problems? I brought this up with my doctor.. she didn't seem concerned about it at all.. but I don't know?? Maybe I should get a second opinion?
