Weight Loss

I am 53 year asian male. Non smoker. I stand on the treadmill three times a week. For 20 min. My weight stuck at 182lb. What i can do to lose more weight?

Hi malvi4228. This may hold no water because I never been on a diet. How is your diet. Maybe more fiber. I am a firm believer of driking water - lots of it. Not gallons because you can die from doing that. Also maybe add another day on the treadmill and adding another 5-10 mins. I sure the other members will have more info. Oh, another thing, sometimes we reach a weight plateau where losing gets difficult. Hope this helps alittle. Good Luck

Losing weight at 53 is highly imposible, infact once you reach 43 you battle, no matter what you do. I'm 47, weighing 80kg, and very frustrated. A friend of mine advised me to start eating Kellogs Special K twice a day for two weeks (don't know if that will help). I started on saturday, will keep u posted.

Losing weight at that age is not impossible. My hubby (67) lost and kept off 60lbs for 5 yrs and counting give or take a few lbs. Recently my neighbor lost near 85lbs within one year. I know he drank some smelly green stuff from the blender 2x a day and traded take outs for home-cooked meals (he was single) He also eliminated salt from his diet. He works out on a treadmill too. Take out the sodas, sweets, switch to low cal beer (if you drink), drink water (my fav), and again, look at your diet. See what you can change and keep at it. But if you do have a sweet tooth there are lo-cal snacks and indulge once a week on the good stuff!

Malvi,
I agree it sure isn't impossible to drop weight at 53 or 63 but it does seem harder. Walking maybe 30 min on your treadmill every day may help you more then just 3 times a week.
Also agree that diet is very important. Cutting out white breads and pasta is a huge help if your into those things. Salads are great but if your pouring great creamy dressing on them your eating lots of fats. Maybe switch to O&V and keep vegies around to munch on when your hungry.
If you have a pool or YMCA close by swim, it's wonderful for the body also. Watch your carb intake and eat good ole chicken without the skin if you can.

Sunshine has a great idea, swimming. I don't know how to swim but its never to late to learn. I have waist length hair and don't look forward to a swimmers cap though. I will look like a cone head! hee hee

You can lose more weight by lowering your caloric intake. You either have to do one of two things, lower your calories or burn more calories, by upping your exercise program.

Nothing is impossible, you do exercise regularly,balance diet, eat fruits like pine apple...
early to bed and early to wake_up,morning walk,you should walk fast.

I don't jog but try to walk fast and that is hard sometimes, I also use 5lb dumb bells. Of course a healthy diet, lots of fruit and yogurt. Hard work, to do the above everyday. Your suggestion is spot on!! Thanks

Have you considered doing exercises that you're not used to? My trainer sometimes makes us do monkey/bear crawls interspersed with burpees and mountain climbers. That really throws the fatburners on.
