Choosing a plan could be a problem because, as I see it, none of them are perfect. Why not just make up your own diet plan? You must know that high calorie processed foods are not good for controling your weight, right? And you probably know which ones you have been eating that caused you to gain the weight. So just gradually eliminate those foods but eliminate them completely, if possible. Replace them with natural whole foods like fresh fruit, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, nuts, seeds and healthy oils (like olive oil).
Eat lean meat and/or fish (3 to 4oz serving per meal)
Eat healthy fats from nuts and olive oil (stick to a normal serving because fats are high in calories).
One small serving of one starchy item per meal (whole grain, corn or potato etc.)
About 3 (1/2 cup) servings of fruit per day.
Stay away from fried foods (especially breaded and fried).
There's no limit when it comes to fresh non-starchy vegetables and that's where you can make the biggest difference. Fresh vegetables can make or break your diet. The more you eat the better as nothing can take the place of lots and lots of fresh vegetables. (Especially dark leafy greens) With a little practice, you can learn to make soups and salads.
