Yes, and I can not emphasize YES enough. I did P90X and lost weight and gained muscle and it made a huge difference in my functional strength as well as my appearance. There are videos all over that have people's success stories with before and afters on P90X and those are not gimmicks. I had several friends that did it also, same thing- they improved their physique a great deal.
Here's the key though- you absolutely MUST follow some sort of diet plan while doing P90X. It does not have to be the P90X plan - I used one my doctor prescribed because I have food allergies that had to be addressed- but you will get a LOT more out of the program if you eat clean and give up processed foods, junk, fast food, soda, juice, alcohol etc. for the full 90 days of the program. What I love about P90X is that it's real. It makes big promises, but it also requires a big commitment in time and effort from you. If you do the program as designed, you're going to see changes, because you will effectively be working out 6+ hours a week for 90 days.
I'm actually getting ready to do another round of P90X because I want to build on what I've already achieved.
Good luck, if you choose to do it.

Just about any type of exercise regimine will help you lose weight or improve your phyique. The key is DIET! If you are not eating the proper diet, you are simply not going to get the results you are looking for with your exercise program. While exercise is important, diet is more important.
