exercise newbie.. where to start?
I'm a 23 year old female, 5'6", about 125 lbs. In general I look healthy but I feel horribly out of shape and have an unfortunate belly bulge as well despite being somewhat naturally skinny. I haven't been able to stick to many exercise plans, since I get bored and self-conscious at the gym and don't have enough money or space for good home equipment. I'm also a graduate student with a pretty demanding schedule so I find it easy to slack off and abandon exercise goals (and unfortunately my job also means a lot of sitting around looking up information and writing papers).
Is there a good way to ease into this? I'm trying to get into running (this is the first week) and it's unfortunately more challenging than I thought, so I must really be out of shape. I also want to get rid of my bulgy unflattering parts, but given my current weight and shape, how much change will I really see? Any advice on starting up something constructive and sticking to it? Or some advice on expected results, timing, etc?
