Hello, I was wondering if anyone actually knows how much protein a person is supposed to get daily? I know there's a general estimate of like 50 grams a day, but I find it hard to believe that one size fits all when it comes to stuff like this (for instance I am only 5'5 and usually weigh around 110 so I wonder if trying to consume 50 grams daily would actually make me gain body mass instead of lose it?).
Well in case anyone else was wondering: you CAN gain weight from eating too much protein and are ideally supposed to get .36 grams of protein for every pound you weigh. So you just multiply .36 by your weight and that's how much you're supposed to get, though obviously if you want to gain muscle mass you should eat more (but make sure you actually work out otherwise protein apparently gets turned to fat like everything else). Who would've thought?
u need roughly 2grams per kg of bodyweight. im 100kg so aim for 200grams protein per day. I usually go over anywhere up to 300gram a day. And have lost 16kg in 10months. If you're active your body can take more protein.
