does any one else suffer from adhesions - Women's Health Message Board

I hope I am on the right board for this question. I am curious if anyone else here suffers from Adhesions. I have had numerous abdominal surgeries 3 c-sects, a hysterectomy, an oophorectomy, and appendectomy, plus 2 laproscopic procedures. My 3rd c-section Dr said I had extensive scaring and adhesions, He removed them. Then when a new Gyn did hyster. She said uterus was adhered to bladder, and a few other places. Then when she did oophorectomy about a 1 1/2 later she said right ovary was adhered to back wall and that I was full of adhesions again. I am now having those all too familiar pains again (about 3 mos now) and I have been getting the run around from Gyn I have had every test under the sun. But she will not do another lap to see if Adhesions are causing pain. I know my body is telling me that they are definetly back.
I was just wondering if someone else here may have similar problems. As I might learn something from them. Or what to ask Drs? Please I am desperatley seeking some support with this.

I had large adhesions on my left side. My ovary was stuck to my bowel. I do suggest that you see a reproductive endroconologist! A gyn is O.K. but I found in my experience a RE is better for pelvic pain and disorders. They specialize in fertility so they are very aware of problems that occur in the reproductive organs. That is the only suggestion I have for you at the moment. Other than maybe see if you doctor would order an MRI to look for adhesions. Good luck.

i too, have adhesions, had them removed several times, i would just get more in another area. i'm getting ready for a hysterectomy, so i'm sure i will be at it again. my doc says it's the body's natural way of healing. isn't it fun being a woman

I have adhesions too. It happens after surgeries and infections, and my doc told me I probably needed another lap but that "someone had to stop doing surgery on me." Every time you have a lap, or whatever, it will cause more adhesions. They are painful, and its a cycle we get in. Have a lap, get adhesions, have another lap to remove those, then get more. Its ugly. And ohhh yeah - great fun being a woman. :P

Thanks to all that have responded. Yes I am very aware of Adhesions and what causes them. I have had them removed when I had last c-sect99, hysterectomy2000, removal of ovary02, and appendectomy02, And now about a year later, they have decided to make their presence known. I know surgery to remove them only makes more, and can sometimes make your pain worse. What do some of you do for the pain?? It is amazing the pain they can cause especially since they are transparent, (look like something glued and then pulled apart before it was dry) I know their are probably alot more people out there that have them, maybe they don't cause everyone discomfort, but they sure do me. I agree with many of you just one more thing for us women to have to deal with.
