antidepressent in 2nd trimester - Women's Health Message Board

Has anyone ever been put on an antidepressent in their 2nd trimester of pregnancy? I am so scared to try thins but i need something, i am just scared that my baby won't be normal.

I would be scared, too. I would get a 2nd or even 3rd opinion on that.

i was on anti-deppresants when i was pregnant. actually ive been on them for 10 years, it doesn't hurt the baby, but also i dont know what kind you are taking. ive been on many different kinds, but there were so many side effects, especially sexually, i went off them. im currently taking celexa, which is fairly new, and ive had no side effects. ive taken prozac, paxil, amitriptiline, nortriptiline(?spelling) there has been quite a few more, i cant think of right now. your doc probably wont put you anything that could hurt the baby.

I would call a pharmicist and ask specifically about the med you are on. They know far more than docs typically do. Call a few if it makes you feel better, and also read the insert that comes with it. That should help. Good luck.

There are anti depressants that are safe during pregnancy--just call your OB and tell him/her that you need something ASAP.
