painful periods - Women's Health Message Board

i am on the new bc patch it's been 8 months. the pain from fibriods and endo are a little less but not much- i still miss a day or two every few months. this month however i am getting some strange spotting/discharge a week before i am supposed to menstrate. i am not really in pain but i certainly feel my period coming. several years ago i took the pill and eventually started bleeding every week but the placebo (sp) week-stopped taking hormones for a few years. i feel beside myself...

Hi Chim -

I am thinking its the patch. A friend of mine used this, and ended up bleeding/spotting every day. She hated it. It also made her irritable and depressed. She quit using it, and now is back and the pill. Give your doc a call and let him/her know what's happening. I know you are using hormones to control endo and fibroids, but it doesn't sound as if they work well for you. I have endo, and I know how frustrating this is. Good luck!

thanks for the info-i called my doctor today and she is closing her practice!! she has not called me back but i was thinking about leaving my patch on continuosly without the week off. pills made me bleed all the time i am afraid the patch might too. but now that i have no dr i'm afraid of the pain without the hormones. i'm really glad i found this site-it's nice to know i'm not alone.
