Unhappy Ejaculation in the vagina

This may sound really weird, and I bet this topic was never addressed on here. I've been having safe sex with my signifcant other for about 4 months now. He is my first sexual partner. I started using birth control, so now we've been having unprotected sex for about 3 months or so. Before receiving the birth control pills.. I had a full pap smear and pelvic exam. There were no problems, and I was completely clean. Since he started ejaculating inside me, I have noticed this weird scent coming from my vagina. It's not such a bad smell, just very different. His semen does have a weird smell and taste to it, not anything horrible or enough to cause concern. Could his ejaculation inside me be harmful, and is this smell normal or does it mean something worse... like infection?

If this smell doesn't go away within a few hours of intercourse, I would think it is something different. Do you have any discharge, and if so, if it is anything other than clear or milky white, or has an odor to it, you could have an infection from yeast to an STD.

Have either of you been tested for STDs? I don't know your history, or his, but it is important to be tested for these before having unprotected sex with anyone.

I would give your doc a call, and in the meantime, go back to the condoms. Good luck.

I was tested for STD's a few months ago, before receiving the birth control. He was also tested extensively after having his first sexual partner about a year ago, and hasn't been with another girl since. I know we are both clean in the STDs department. This is my new found theory: His semen, since it has a high acidity, may have thrown off my little environment in there... I have this milky slight discharge, and it has the smallest odor to no odor at all, it varies at different times. There isn't any irritation or redness at all, so I'm thinking this may be a bacterial infection?

Yogurt only helps with a yeast infection - although Diflucan or Monistat works a lot better and faster.

When I get a yeast infection, I notice the smell before I notice any itching or discharge. This might be your problem.

Hi kanny -

It might be nothing other than your natural discharge. That can change slightly when you start the pill, or it might be an infection. As you are so concerned, why not call your doc and get it checked? It might put your mind at rest.

Thank you creinha and Jessilynn! I guess the only choice is to see my doctor. *shiver* It really gives me the hibbies going there.. lol. The smell hasn't exactly gone away, so I fear a mild infection of some kind. I shouldn't complain, things could be a lot worse! Your help was very much appreciated

It sounds like it could be a bacterial infection. If it is then you need to see a dr. and they can prescribe you something to take care of it. Yeast and Bacterial infections are very different...yogurt won't cure a bacterial infection....Take Care,
