S-luv, I share your pain. There are tons of information on this board about this very topic. And it's weird b/c when I first started reading the forums and posting, I didn't see as much info. But now, almost daily there is a new post about BV. It is soooo common and now more and more women are being more mindful of that dreadful stench and realizing that it's not normal to smell like that(no matter how long they've had it) and that it is an infection. And because of this it's becoming easier and easier to talk about it and do more research about it. Whew! Finally!
But I can definitely relate to your problem. I firmly believe that semen plays a major role in BV. I know this from experience. Semen disrupts your vagina's ph balance something wicked. And for me, within a few days, it is sin city "down below". And it puts a major strain on my relationship b/c I have to try to explain to my bofriend (him being from mars and all) why I can't have sex with him--and how even though dr.'s say men don't harbor this infection, I still believe he is "one" of the main culprits. Poor guy. And, I get horrible yeast infections from condoms (and that's another conversation in itself). I get BV routinely, month to month it seems---no, really, it is actually month to month as I think of it. My cycle is another cause for my BV. Hormonal changes and so forth. My boyfriend and I have chosen to refrain from sex until I get it under control. I'm doing the natural supplements now..(Oil of Oregano, Olive Leaf, Goldenseel/Echineacea)but I was forced to take the flagyl. I did the single dose (b/c I refuse to go for seven days swallowing those disgusting tasting pills). While doing that I doubled up on acidophillus (to help prevent a bad "mamma jamma" yeast infection.) So far so good. But my fingers, toes, and eyes are crossed and praying that neither the BV or a yeast infection occurs. It is a struggle. I hate it. I've decided that I'd much rather have a yeast infection than BV...b/c at least the yeast doesn't smell (for the world to sniff) and if you catch a yeast infection early on you won't suffer much from the pain and discomfort. Pretty drastic measures, I know, but I've had more than my share of BV and someday I'm going to write a book on it and share my first hand knowledge with the health professionals. Maybe even give them some tips. lol
So, I hope you find more answers to the many unanswered questions about this. Good luck, and please keep us posted.
