I am taking Alesse 21 Birth Control
I have been on the pill for 2 years how and have had generally regualer scheduled periods due to the pill.
I reciently missed a pill because it fell on the floor when i was taking my other vitamins and i never noticed. i got my period a week early. i found the lost pill a few days later, and took it on that day (even though i had taken one that day already on the scheduled time) I continued taking my birth control pill and got my period. It is a week earlier than it should be, but i have continued taking the hormone pill right through this period because i figured that it was just spotting.
I have heard that if you mess up a the pill pack, you should simply go off it, and wait a month, then start a new pack when you get your period naturally a month later. I am slightly worried. I do not want to go off the pill in fear of pregnancy.
I have messed up this pack, taking hormone pills right through my period. Now if i go and take the week on where i am ment to get my period, i probably will not get a period (2 periods in 2 weeks).
Please let me know any advice. i am completely lost on what i should be doing now. Tomorrow is my first day that i should actually be getting my period if i didnt skip that one pill. Should i start a new pack right away tomorrow since this fake period is just ending, or should i take a month off and start fresh next month?
Please let me know any advise in this problem or similar situations.
thank you kindly.
Hey there
Has your period already finished? Cos if it has finished completely and there is no flow, the best thing for you to do is NOT take the placebos and continue on to the next pack of hormone pills and take that pack as normal.
If your flow HASN'T finished, don't do this, as the period might continue on until your next placebo break. If you're still on your period, take the placebo pills this week as would have been scheduled, and your bleed should stop somewhere during those. You won't get 'another' period or anything like that, but the one you're having now should abate. Remember, only take the 7 (as scheduled) and then on to your next pack as you usually would.
With both of these options you WILL be contraceptively covered. Do NOT halt your pills altogether and have a natural period, this, more than anything, will confuse your body as it has to begin ovulating, then stop again, not to mention the fear of pregnancy!
Hope I helped!
Since you're bleed has finished, you're fine to go straight on to the HORMONE pills of your next pack! Don't take the placebos cos' that'll confuse your body and it may try to bleed again.
