Severe Cramps - Women's Health Message Board

For about a year now I've had extremely painful cramps...they keep me incapacitated for day and get so bad that I hyperventilate, pass out, get cold sweats, dizzy, shaking, weakness. I actually gouged skin from my hand with m fingernails (I cut myself but this has nothing to do with that) because the pain was so bad. I know this is not normal....is there something wrong?

I would get checked out by a doctor. Especially if it's habitual and as severe as you claim it to be.
Doesn't sound too normal. By the way, do you ever try to take any painkillers, and do they work or not?

It happens every month, but occasionally skips a month. I've tried tylenol and midol, but during that hour-long period nothing works. My mom is going to take me to the doctor, but I just was wondering if anyone else had this or knew what it was.

I used to have severe cramping,t hen I found an over the counter pill that I got at a pharmacy, and it did wonders for me.

It's god you're getting checked out though, it could be something serious. Better safe than sorry! I've heard things about endometriosis that sound somehwat similar to what you have described.
