Ok I was wondering if anyone has experienced this. Basically I havent had this problem until recently when I got married. My husband and I have noticed a fishy smell even after I shower! Its most strong after sex which is the worst! I thought that I had bacterial vaginosis so we went to the doctor to get it checked out. He ran tests for everything including stds but everything came up clean. He didn't know what to tell me. Anyways the smell still continues and I have a white discharge. I dont know how to make it go away when there seems to be nothing wrong.
I find that if I don't douche after sex, an odor will develop. I know that doctors are now saying women should not douche, but I've never found a way to get rid of the odor otherwise. I use plain water with a little white vinegar added; the vinegar helps keep the natural acidic pH of the vagina, and cleans really well. Since you don't seem to have an infection, maybe that is what's causing your odor.
Before douching always get your docs ok even if it is just a vinegar and water douche. Douching after sex is especially not recommended as it will really alter you PH balance as well as alter the good/bad bacteria. The odor you notice after sex is normal and you should just take a good shower and rinse off well.
I've personally never had any problems with douching. I think it is frequent douching that causes problems, as well as using soaps or other solutions that are harsh and not properly pH balanced.
Hello, I don't know if this info will help. This girl I used to work with had the same problem. The only difference with her is that the fishy smell came from her pores. She found out the smell was coming from the foods she ate. Whenever she ate certain foods, she would get this really bad B.O. So maybe you should look into what foods you eat. That could be the problem.
