Hi I have been on Hormone replacement for about 10 yrs now. Im 57. I was thinking of going off of them because of all of the controversy. has anyone gone off these pills and are there drastic side effects.
please let me know.
thanks
Thank you for your responses. I dont know what to do. I heard a lot of people when they go off the hormones feels like crap. I tried the natural hormones and they did nothing for me. I go to the gyno tonight and Im sure he is going to try to get me to stop.
I will let you know what happens. I can see where the could cause depression after taking them as long as we have.
Georgia Girl, I spoke with my dr yesterday and he asked if I was still taking the hormones. I said yes and I guess you are going to try to get me to stop.
He said no, Im not convinced yet they do any harm.
He said he has women in their 60's (Im 57) that have stopped only to go back on because they feel like crap and are getting hot flashes again. Im staying on them.
My hair dresser went off them because she said she heard now they cause alzheimers. I feel that since I have been on them all these years I would have whatever problems they cause by now. As long as you go and get your yearly check up then you are fine. I think it was blown all out of proportion (so does my dr). At this age I have enough aches and pains without being a B---- ! good luck to you and let me know if you decide to stay on them. You have been on them a long time also and if you feel good taking them then you should.
take care.
Hello all,
I am 48 and went on hormones 7 yrs ago after a hysterectomy. Recently my doc asked me to stop he said I had gone through the change and did'nt need them anymore. Boy was he wrong. My hot flashes returned with a vengence and I was short tempered and depressed. I have started them back 3 days ago I can't wait for them to kick in.
