I remember when I was in school we were given "starter kits" for our periods. They included information for girls, and samples of the different products on the market for a girls period. I have a daughter that is showing several signs of PMS, and I spoke to her pediatrician and they said it is probably that. Anyways I just thought it was really helpful when I got one, and would like to find one for her.

I know Tampax used to have an 800 number that you could call and get product samples and informational pamphlets. I'm sure the other companies (Carefree, Kotex, etc.) do too.

Why not talk to your daughter about it, instead of giving her a kit to use? Or are you talking about giving her a kit in conjunction with conversing with her? Either way, communication is the best thing.

Have you discussed sex with her yet? If not, perfect opportunity to do so!

I remember getting one of those kits when I was a young lady. I tried to find one this summer for my step daughter. I remember getting a lot of products from Stay-Free in my kit (LOL that I can remember). I looked up on the internet and found a number and called. They said that they discontinued those kits but have had a lot of requests for them. I did give her my address and she sent me some coupons in the mail. There is also an internet website for young ladies that is sponsered by Stayfree and ob tampons.

The girls do get some samples in school here but not sure if they do that where you live in sex education classes. Your best bet is to look up each feminine product company on the web and see what they offer and call if they don't list anything as most do have 800#. Also you need to sit down and discuss all of this with your daughter and let her know what is going on. You mentioned that you discussed it with her doctor but did you take your daughter along when you talked to the doctor? Keeping your daughter aware and informed is the best way to help her get through all these rough times.
