Post Lump under labia majora... I'm 19 and scared, is this cancer?

I really hope some of you ladies can help me. I'm 19 years old and I'm afraid this could be cancer. One night, I had just gotten out of the shower and was feeling around my labia majora. I found this lump that is under the skin. It is at the top of the left labia. It's not hard, I can move it around quite freely. Sometimes it feels a little bit bigger than other times. It doesn't hurt at all. For all I know, this could have always been there and I just now came across it but I'm still concerned. Any responses are GREATLY appreciated!

PinKelle,

I think you can rest assured that it's very unlikely that it's a cancerous lump. Most cancerous tumors are hard, and a doctor once told me that they usually are stationery and do not move around. It's most likely a small cyst or something similar. Have you looked at it to see what color it is (white would indicate a cyst or pimple, which you might be able to gently squeeze out). If it's still there in a couple of weeks and is worrying you, you might want to have your doctor take a look at it.

Thanks for your reply. There is no discoloring to that area. I can't even tell there is a lump there unless I feel for it.

Re: Lump under labia majora... I'm 19 and scared, is this cancer?

Hello, My symptoms are identical to what PinKeLLe described.

(A lump that is under the skin, located at the top of the left labia. It's not hard, I can move it around freely. It doesn't hurt at all. There is no discoloring to that area. I can't tell there is a lump unless I feel for it.)

Did you find out what the lump was? I went to 3 doctors and they all said not worry, but none really gave me any explanation except they guess it's just a cyst and to wait and see if it grows. Itís pretty deep under the tissue and doesnít have any exterior signs at all.

Can PinKeLLe or anyone else who might have experience with this share their thoughts on this?

Thank you in advance!

I'm not a doctor but you might ask your gynocologist if you have a blocked or infected barthollian duct. What you describe sounds about the correct location. It normally drains lubricating fluid although imperceptably, so it might be good to get to the doc pronto before it swells to a serious problem.

Re: Lump under labia majora... I'm 19 and scared, is this cancer?

Thank you for the response. The bartholin duct is about 2 inches BELOW the area I am referring to. The lump is in the labia majora - parallel with the clitoris - so it's up a bit higher than the bartholin duct .

Do you - or does anyone else - have any other ideas what it may be? I've been to 3 doctors about this and they all said to 'wait and see if it grows' (I'd rather not!). No tests were offered to me. However I do not trust the doctors in my area (I live in a small town with very few quality health care providers).

Thanks all!

I wouldn't "wait and see" either if I had a lump for a period of time that didn't resolve. On the remote chance it is a tumor, what would you want to wait for? To see if it becomes more invasive and spreads to other areas? Yeah, great idea, doctor It is more likely some sort of cyst or other benign skin condition. One of the doctors should have offered to do a biopsy, and then you would have your answer. Why don't you demand something be done or ask for a referral to a specialist?

Re: Lump under labia majora... I'm 19 and scared, is this cancer?

Did you ever find out what it was? I have the same exact thing and this is the only thing I can find on the internet about it. I am 7 months pregnant so I figure it might have to do with the increased blood supply, especially in that area. I do have an OB appt at the end of this week, but I am afraid of the doctor saying she's never heard of anything like it because I've had many other weird pregnancy symptoms that she nor my previous OB doctor have ever heard of. Please let me know if it was resolved.

Re: Lump under labia majora... I'm 19 and scared, is this cancer?

To follow up...In my case, my doctor told me that it is just a blood vessel that is bigger because of the additional weight of the baby pushing down. The lump should go away when after the baby is born. She said it is like getting varicose veins.
