here's the deal. started what I though was my period coming early on oct 7th. had unusual cramping and bleeding was very light. I've gone to the ER. and two different doctors.. one being my ob.. and they all say that I screwed up my pills and that is why my period is lasting so long?? well I am going for a ultrasound on MOnday. because I think something is wrong and docs are not willing to look into this further.. slight pain on righ is still there??? anyone have this happen to them does a cyst cause this. any help would be great!!

The idea of this episode being due to messing up your pills is very likely. Where would you be in your cycle? Unfortunately, I have been bleeding since June so I know all of the possible causes. Well, all but the one that is causing it for me. A ruptured cyst can cause bleeding. If it has ruptured and it is the cause, they will see a dark spot on your ovary during the ultrasound.

How heavy is your bleeding? Did you start the pill again after you messed up? If it gets really heavy or lasts for another week or two, they can add some hormones to make it stop. Usually, I think they try estrogen first. With me, they just had me take a lot more pills, but I recently read that is a very bad idea. This week, they are going to try me on progesterone only.

I'm on the second week of my new pack of pills,,the 11th day..bleeding is light..more like heavy spotting if there is such a thing.. it actually stops during afternoon and part of early evening.. starts up again in the middle of the night early morning??? wierd. what bothers me is that is still have a slight pain on my lower right side..(although pain has subsided some since this all started).. where my ovary would be.... during my exam it was sore..I guess I'll find out more after the ultrasound..

That is so annoying. Mine does that too. Part of the day it will almost stop and then I will suddenly feel it start flowing out. Yuck! A few hours later it will be flooding out of me to where I can't get enough pads wrapped around me. It wakes me up if it starts in the middle of the night and stops me in my tracks on the way into the grocery store or anywhere else.

I sure hope your ultrasound shows something. And make sure to take your vitamins!

That happened to a friend of mine before, and it was the pill thing that caused her problem. It happened to me also, and like you I ended up in the ER. The first doctors didn't know what it was, but when I finally went in again to another dr. it ended up being a polyp, which was causing the problem. He removed it right on the spot. It was so small I couldn't believe it caused so much bleeding. I hope everything goes well. Tell us what you find out!
