Oops, I guess we were writing at the same time and then I wandered off to eat breakfast. I think both procedures are almost identical. But, when they put you to sleep, they can take out small fibroids and polyps with the scope. They usually won't do this when you are awake.
I knew it could be done without putting me to sleep and I had never been put to sleep before, so I asked if there was any chance I could be awake. Since my doc wanted to get some good biposies and was hoping to find something to treat, she wanted me out.
The hardest part of the day was waiting for my admission time and not eating. They did let me have a little juice that morning and I got to brush my teeth. I was scared of the IV and the first one blew, but it was not terrible. I was also scared that I would be sick when i woke up, but they gave me something extra special in my IV and I woke up feeling fine.
I was groggy that afternoon and bleeding a little. The next day I was still a little groggy since the anesthesia was pretty late in the day for me. I wasn't bleeding that morning and had justa little trouble going to the bathroom. It was also a little uncomfortable to sit. They gave me good pain meds, but I didn't need to sit so I really didn't use them. I kinda walked around my uterus for a few days and then I was fine. I felt back to the way I felt before within 48 hours - actually less.
I also had the D&C at the same time, so some of the discomfort and bleeding may have been due to that.
All in all, the whole thing is a cinch. I wish you well with yours.
Nik
