| Re: Blood clot??
People on birth control pills who are at the highest risk of a blood clot are those who are over 30 and who smoke. Also, the 'stronger' the pill, the higher the risk. This was more of a concern years ago when the pill first came out but we've since 'tweaked' it and made it a little safer. But yes, the risk is still there. Your calf is a prime site for muscle pulls and aches so please don't right away think it's a clot. Granted, the amount of discomfort would usually depend on the size of the clot, but most people will have redness, tenderness at the site, and sometimes swelling. I've been told that most people who have a clot in their leg know something is wrong by the amount of discomfort they feel. I myself developed clusters of clots in my lungs from the pill years ago, and never once had a clot in my legs, so please keep in mind that it's not just your leg that's a target spot...it can be anywhere. And as I said, the risk does go up along with your age and if you smoke.
If your leg is still bothering you in a couple of days, you may want to get it checked just for your own piece of mind. Take care.
