Question yeast infection?

Recently, I started having itching and burning in my vaginal area. there was also this cottage cheese like stuff down there. I assumed it was a yeast infection, because I am on antibiotics and i know they can cause yeast infections. Well, I went to the store and got Monistat 1 day treatment. Its been 3 days now and the itching and the cheesy stuff are still there, but the burning is gone...is this not a yeast infection if the meds didnt work? did i do it wrong? should i do the treatment again? any advice would be helpful..ive never had a yeast infection before so I dont really know what the symptoms and stuff are..thanks, andrea

Re: yeast infection?

Go see your doctor(PCM) and make sure it is a yeast infection...it is always best to get checked instead of trying to treat it yourself. This way you can get proper treatment even if it is a yeast infection.

Sounds like a yeast infection to me, but you should be checked by your doctor just to be safe I get them from antibiodics too. One time I talked to my doctor about it and she said they like women to use the 3 day instead of the 1 day because it usually takes at least that long to go away. If that does not work they will give you a pill that clears it up really fast. She said some yeast infections are stubborn and you need the pill instead of the creams. I have treated mine before with the one day meds and it did not work in that amount of time, more like 2-3 days. It could be a bacterial infection though so you should see your doctor. Hope this helps!

Sounds like a yeast infection. The 3 or 7 day treatments are the best. And eating yogurt helps too. But as someone else said, it's best to go and get it looked at by a doctor. If it's a yeast infection they can give you stuff for it, and if it's not, they can give you the proper treatment.

Re: yeast infection?

I used to take antibiotics for months at a time for my face. Well I had a problem with getting yeast infections. I tried the 1-day treatment and it never worked for me. The only thing that worked was the 7-day treatment. The last time I had a yeast infection the 7-day treatment did not work for me even. I got the difulcan pill from the doctor and it cleared it up.
