Ovarian Cyst just diagnosed - Women's Health Message Board

I was brought into the ER by ambulance because I passed out of severe lower left abdominal pain. They did an internal and external ultrasound and found a 2cm. ovarian cyst of my left ovary. I am new to this and am a bit concerned. The dr. gave me pain meds and said i should be okay . these things tend to go away or burst she said. So, about how big is 2 cm? Will this interefere w/me and my husband trying to conceive? Thanks.

That sounds scary but 2 cm isn't very big and like your Dr. said it is common to get ovarian cysts and they burst with your cycle and go away. I have cysts and one of them is quite large. I also have severe endometriosis and I have 2 children. You will be fine. Just keep a positive attitude.

If your doctor isn't concerned, you shouldn't fret about it. I had an ovarian cyst the size of a grapefruit, and of course, it had to be surgically removed. I was told this would have no affect on my ability to conceive. I know of other women who have small ones (like yourself) and their lives are normal. Hopefully, your pain has ceased and you don't have any other incidents. Wishing you good health....

I was just diagnosed with two ovarian cists. One on each ovary. The pain is terrible so I know what you are going through. This is my second bout with ovarian cists. I had one the size of an apricot back in 2001 it was hemorriging and had to have it removed immediately. So I am a little scared because the pain is the same and last time the bc didn't work to control them. My new gyno put me on bc again in hopes that it will work. I go back in July to see if the bc has helped this is a long process. I can say as long as cists can be controlled than you should be fine. Just keep up with it. Good Luck!!!!
