Okay, what you probably had on Wed is a withdrawal bleed, and you're right, the most likely explanation for that is the fact you missed a pill. I'm glad you didn't take two pills at once. There is a huge misconception out there that you need to take two pills at once if you miss a pill. You should NEVER take two pills at once. If you miss a pill by more than 12 hours, you are supposed to take one when you remember, take another one 12 hours later, and then take your next one when you normally take it. Taking two pills at once won't hurt you, but it makes it much more likely you'll have a withdrawal bleed which can often cause distress.
Now, this whole period thing for three months while being pregnant is also a misconception. No, it is not possible to have a period once you are pregnant.....HOWEVER, before every woman who thinks this is possible comes and attacks me, I will say one thing: it is possible to have bleeding per vagina if you are pregnant. This, however, is NOT a period, though it is often confused to be one. Many women get implantation bleeds (i.e. when the embryo implants on to the uterus), and you can also get a little bit of physiological spotting as the placenta is first developing and invading in to the uterine tissue layers.
Finally, most miscarriages happen between 8 and 12 weeks, and often the women didn't even know she was pregnant. This is also often mistaken for a period, but in reality it is not one.
