severe yeast infection?! - Women's Health Message Board

I have what I think is a yeast infection. I've had many before, but this one is scaring me because my vagina is swollen and much more painful. It hurts to have my legs together. I just want to be "spread apart" down there. The labia are swollen and feel a little hard, and there is a lot of soreness at the base of the vaginal opening, plus itching. I took a Diflucan about 24 hours ago, but this swelling is freaking me out. Any ideas? Thanks a bunch.

I've had similar problems and what helped me was taking diflucan once every 72 hours for three doses. Also, you may want to ask your doctor for a cream. I'm not sure what mine it, but it really helps the itching and soreness.

I used to get yeast infections really bad when I was a young teenager. In fact at one point it was soooo bad I cried when I went to the bathroom. I had to walk with my legs apart it hurt so bad. I was very swollen as well and had open sores all over down there. When I went to the doctor she said it looked like I had genital warts....I was like no way!!!! I was still a virgin. Well in any case...she gave me this little tiny pill to take...I can't remember what it was because it was years ago, but ever since then (knock on wood) I haven't been cursed with another one!
So I just wanted to let you know you are not alone, so many women experience such differences when they have a yeast infection...I mean my doctor thought I had an STD! I am not exactly sure what diflucan is...I am not sure if it is over the counter or not...but you could always see your doctor and maybe they can give you something to help with the situation.

thanks everyone. went to the doctor today, got more meds. i'm starting to feel better!
