A month or so ago I ended up w/ an ingrown hair after shaving my pubic area. I managed to pull out the infected hair w/ tweezers, but was not able to get the little pimple like thing to pop. It hurt like hell for awhile, as it's right between my leg and private area...and the edge of my panties rub against it. Now, it has turned into a firm cyst like bump, but no longer seems to be painful. Any idea if this is indeed a cyst? If so, will it go away on it's own or will I need to have it removed by a doctor? If it does need to removed by a docor, what kind of doctor... Gyno? Dermatologist? General surgeon? I've had many ingrown hairs in the past, but have never had it end up like this! So, any info or advice would be great. Thanks in advance!

After a month it is probably not going to go away A dermatologist is the specialist to see. He or she may be able to inject it with a steroid, or it will have to be surgically excised if it really is a hardened cyst. NOT major surgery or anything, don't worry! Still, a major pain in the rump
Thanks for the reply! I'll be seeing a dermatologist here in a couple of weeks for a mole, so when I'm there I'll have her take a look at this cyst thing if it hasn't gone away. You're right, even though it's nothing major- it's still a pain in the butt!
I had something like this and my gyno told me to put neosporin on the bump a couple times a day for about a week and it was gone by the end of 7 days. I just had an infected hair folicle, and mine was in the same place yours is. I would try and see if it works! Hope this helps!
Thanks for the replies everyone! I'll give the neosporin a try. I was using both peroxide and neosporin on it before it turned into this bump thing, maybe I should have continued w/ it...I had stopped because it didn't hurt anymore and was no longer pimple like. Hopefully it is just an infected hair folicle, and goes away on it's own. If not, I'll go ahead and have it checked. Thanks again for the replies!
