 problem solved!
I finally went to the doctor and asked what this "welt" was. He said that sometimes the oil glands around the vagina can get clogged, and then they swell up - that's what happened. He said that sometimes they need antibiotics, but other times (like in my case) a good hot bath will help open up the pores and the swelling will go down.
I am so relieved!
