My "smell" and discharge, please help...

I don't really knwo who to ask about this so HOPEFULLY you guys can help.
For a few years now (I am 19 now) I've noticed the smell of my discharge getting worse and worse and it comes more and more often. Pretty much every day I have white slime on my underwear, and sometimes I can smell it randomly (like right now sitting at the computer when I spread my legs I smell it!) It smells like sweat and like... hotdogs or something. It's disgusting.
I am so sick of it, I can't stand it, is this normal?
While my boyfriend hasn't complained (he may just be trying to be nice...) it REALLY bothers me.
Help.

I used to be embarassed about the same exact thing. I used to eat alot of junkfood which could contribute to the smell so I heard a little too late. However, all women get some discharge especially around menstration. I noticed since I've changed my eating habits, the gross aspect of it subsided.

This is normal, and I don't know how to 'fix' it, but if it bothers you a lot, just use pantyliners. Then the 'slime' will be on something disposable, and you're less likely to randomly smell it if you change the pantyliner a few times a day. (it's just not practical to change your underwear that often. besides, where would you keep all your 'extras' for the day? )
Also it can be a bit worse if you're really sweaty, so try to stick to cotton underwear and save the skin-tight leather pants for special occasions only

This may sound obvious, but have you talked to your doctor? There are a number of infections (not necessarily STIs) that can cause discharge and odor. If it bothers you, it is worth getting checked out.

I agree with the last poster. Go see a doctor and check to make sure nothing is going on down there. Also, diseases like diabetes can cause problems gynocologically. It may be just the type of clothing you wear also. Try wearing cotton briefs or bikini panties (yes I know, how uncool ) and see if this helps. My daughter likes to wear thongs and she has problems like yours. As much as I tell her not to wear them, she doesn't listen but then again I didn't listen to my mom either when I was younger.

Sounds like something I had called bacterial vaginosis. Just see your doctor about it and they'll give you pills or cream to treat it. It should be gone within 7 days if you opt to take the pills rather than use the cream. It's not really a serious problem, but it's definitely annoying when you have it.

Re: My "smell" and discharge, please help...

i had exactly the same thing for quite a long time, a lot of discharge every day and i noticed that it smelled pretty gross! i even thought i had a yeast infection, but the swabs my doctor took were negative for that or a bacterial infection.

i tried cutting down on sugar in my diet and that seemed to take away the smell and reduce the discharge a bit, so you could try that if you eat a lot of sugar (i used to have cravings for chocolate etc and eat loads of sweet food!) i think for me it is just normal to have more discharge than average people, and it could also be like that for you, but i would recommend seeing a doctor who can take swabs and test them so that you will know for definite whether it is normal or not. (when i went i was really embarassed but i'm sure the doctor had seen a million other people's .... so it was nothing to her, and it was worth it to find out the result.)
