Swollen Breasts

Im a 20 year old female and in the past week have noticed my breasts have become really painful and swollen. This does very occasionally happen before my period sometimes, but im not due my period for another 3 weeks, so i dont think thats causing it. Im on the pill, but have been for some time and never experienced this before so i dont think thats causing it either. someone told me that you can get swollen and painful breasts if you are pregnant, but ive had a period since the last time i slept with anyone so im not pregnant. Im at a loss as to what is causing it, and how to get rid of it. Even my housemate commented on them looking bigger! Any Advice ?? Thanx xxx

Re: Swollen Breasts

Not to scare you, but you can get a period and still be pregnant. Breasts can become extremely sore in the early weeks of pregnancy. Or, you could just be experiencing a new side affect of the pill. Caffeine can do it too. If you're sure you can't be pregnant, I wouldn't worry about it and try to watch your caffeine, cola, and chocolate intake.

Re: Swollen Breasts

Wow I'm going to eat more chocolate and drink lots of caffeine after reading Dianes post!

But seriously, mine do to do that sometimes before my period starts. Sometimes 2-3 weeks in advance. I had a tubal so pregnancy is out of the question for me. I think its just hormones.

Hi, I would say its probably just hormones. Mine get really sore 2-3 weeks before my period and I am on the pill aswell.

Okay..this sounds like it's from left field, but have you changed bras lately? Sometimes when I don't get enough support my breasts become really painful.

Re: Swollen Breasts

oh yeah. I am on depo and every now and then my blow up like big balloons and oh wow do they hurt! Especially when I take my underwire bra off or when I get up in the morning. I had one run with it where they were like that for a month! I went up a whole cup size (course my hubby loved that ) Whenever I complain about my boobs hurting mom, or hubby will ask if I could be pregnant. Well, if I get a scare like that (I don't get my period with depo) I run out and get a test.
Luckily, mine are back to normal, hubby misses the size, but I don't miss the pain!
