Tampon insertion

Hello,

I have only just started using tampons recently, and I got my period yesterday. At the moment, while I am pushing the tampon into my vagina, I am getting a pain on my right side - I think where my ovary is. When I stop pushing the tampon in, the pain stops, but when I begin again, so does the pain.

Does anyone know what this could be?

Cutie

Re: Tampon insertion

Hi, you may not be inserting it properly. If you are a beginner you might want to try putting one leg on the side of the bathtub or toilet.

Re: Tampon insertion

Try not to push so hard. Just put it near your opening and let it almost glide up.

Re: Tampon insertion

How far should the tampon be pushed? I get a little of my finger in also when I push it in, and it doesn`t seem to want to go any further.

Re: Tampon insertion

Just a little of your finger is far enough. After you get it in, can you feel it? Almost like it's gonna fall out? If so, put it in a little bit further. Take an hour and practice, put one in, see how it feels, is it okay? if not put another in. Don't be afraid to throw a couple away while practicing. Before you know it you will get the hang of it. Also, try a few different brands, you'll find your favorites, and some feel different than others, some are easier to insert than others. Best of luck to you

Re: Tampon insertion

Do you use Lube when you do this? It's helped me--unfortunatley now that I can actually get them in, they never ever stay in!!

Re: Tampon insertion

You probably are not inserting properly. You should make sure the tampon is aimed towrds your back (look at instructions that come with tampon box)--don't force the tampon, the tampon should follw the vaginal path. If it stops or hurts try to angle it in a different way. For help, insert when your period is heavy(it will go in easier) or try pearl tampons(i find them to go in easily). This type of thing comes with practice. When I first used tampons, It hurt too.

Re: Tampon insertion

I agree pearl is a good brand, plastic applicators are great. I know i get a pain like that if im leaning a bit to the right when trying to insert. I just put myself in an upright position and all goes well then...
