Well, my 8cm ovarain cyst is now not thought to be ovarian. They have no clue where it is coming from. I have had CTscan, MRI, Pelvic Ultrasound, Ultrasound, and they still don't know exactly what it is. Gyno said it could be coming from the end of my fallopian tube or could be a tumor like growth. He won't know till he gets in there. So I"m scheduled for a laparoscopy possible laparotomy on Jan. 17th. He said he doubts it is cancer but did the CA 125 blood test yesterday. I am kind of freaked out, but I have a feeling it isn't cancer.
I just wanted to know if there was any advice out there for prep for abdominal surgery I have to be on a liquid diet starting the 15th in the evening. On Sunday I have to take magnesium citrate, ducolax, flagyl, and something else...Oh yeah an enema. What enema works best if anyone knows? I have never had one, don't want to have one.
There's worse things though so I guess I'll get through it

Don't know why you would have to go thru all of that for a lap....that sounds like the prep for a colonoscopy (I just had one and that is what I had to go thru before the scope)! Is he scoping your colon at the same time?

None of the things you are describing are standard for an abdominal laprascope procedure...they all involve cleaning the colon and intestinal tract.

Check with the doc to see exactly what he is doing.

Anyone else have to go thru a colon cleaning prior to having a lap done?

I had the colonoscopy earlier this year. Yes it is definately for the lap. He just wants to make sure everything is cleaned out. I guess if he nicks my intestine or something he wants to make sure it is cleaned out to help prevent infection. It is much more involved than the prep for my colonoscopy. I guess every doc is different.
