Morning after pill aftereffects - Women's Health Message Board

About three months ago my girlfriend took the morning after pill, as a condom had popped.
She's had weird periods from since... I've read somewhere that the aftereffects should go down after the third month, but the weirdness has increased every time and I'm a bit worried.
For "weird" I mean more painful, longer (about 2 days), she feel nauseous, is hot and she feels her head's spinning. Nausea and feeling hot were normal even before the pill, but didn't happen as much, and not after the first 2 days either.

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Ive read that the side effects can take up to a year to go away. If your gf is really having trouble, she should go to her doctor to make sure nothing else is going on. And even though the pill is quite effective, she should get a pregnancy test as well.

Hi,
Everyone varies as to how they are affected by the pill but I would also suggest that she goes to the doctor for advice and again get a pregnancy test as it is not 100% guaranteed that it will work. She might want to check that she's not pregnant!

She's not pregnant, she's had her periods regularly.

Going to the doctor would definitely be the best idea. It'll take a while to convince her (she's terrified of hospitals and doctors in general... don't ask), but I think it's the only way.
