What is wrong with me ? - Women's Health Message Board

If someone can help i would appreciate it. On and off i have had pains in my left abdomen. About 4 months ago i had really really bad pain for a couple of days, like a stabbing pain. Then, one night at work , all of a sudden , i started to have the urge to pee really bad , so i went to the bathroom , and there was a lot of blood in my urine. I thought that i had a urinary tract infection, even though id never had one before, i just figured thats what it was. I took over the counter UTI meds and it helped with the pain. I went ahead and took it for three days like it said just to make sure it was gone. The whole time that i was taking it i had an odd tenderness in my side where it had hurt before. After i got off the medicine it didnt hurt any more and no more blood , but i still had the tenderness for awhile,maybe a week. My next two periods i started off with brown blood and after a few days it was normal. During the brown blood i had the same kind of tendernessand a slight burning when i peed. My next period was normal. So i figured i was ok, but then the next one was the same. Two days brown blood, tenderness. Anyways i went to my mom with the issue, because she had fertility problems for years and i thought it might have something to do with that. She told me they never knew what was wrong with her , but when she had a hysterectomy, they told her that she had alot of endometriosis. Does anyone know if my symptoms match that ?

I cant answer your question about endometriosis, but did you ever go to the doctor for your UTI? Because it sounds as if yours had progressed quite a bit (by the blood in the urine), before you took meds, and at that they were only over the counter meds. I've had three UTIs in the past year and half, and cant quite figure out why, but in the mean time i've learned a little about them. You definately need to get prescription antibiotics from the doctor. You'll need to take the meds til they're gone, then return to the doc for another urine test. Because they can look and see if there is any bacteria left, cause if there is, the infection will come back over and over til it is taken care of by meds. Hope this helps you! Oh yeah, and drinking cranberry juice can help with the cramps and quicken your healing by making your urince more acidic. (harder for bacteria to live in it). Thanx for responding. I have not gone to the doctor, i should be getting insurance soon and plan on it. The problems went away after taking the medicine, but now i feel i might have been foolish for thinking it was a UTI. I had went the the restroom two times that night that i had the problem before the problem , and nothing was wrong. So im not sure it would have occured out of the blue like that. I could be wrong though. When i told my mom all the symptoms, she thought i might have had a cyst. I guess she had some of the same problems or something.
