Hi all. I had an abortion on May 4th...not by my choice, it was family induced. I went for my follow-up to the doctor two weeks later on May 25 and I had to take a urine test and the test was negative for pregnancy. Well, I've been having the same symptoms that I had when I found out I was pregnant. Well, I just took another pregnancy test (my boyfriend told me to take one, so I did) and it was a faint positive. I took an Equate brand pregnancy test and now I'm about to go get a First Response or Clear Blue Easy - just to make sure that it is a positive.
My question is this: Is it safe for me to be pregnant this close to having an abortion? I'm very excited to be pregnant! I just want to make sure that it's ok for my body to be pregnant.
Does anyone have an experience with this? I'm very concerned. Thank you.
I dont have any expierence with it but I do know that just like with a full term pregnancy... There is a period of time needed for your uterus to recover... I think how far into the pregnancy you were and what kind of procedure you had will also be a factor in it as well... Maybe you should call a doctor and see they would be your best advice.... Good Luck and Keep us posted....
I was ten weeks pregnant, maybe nine - I never went to an OBGYN, but an ultrasound was done before the vacuum aspiration procedure and it was noted that I was 9-10 weeks pregnant.
When I went to my post abortion appointment, they checked to make sure my uterus was back to normal and I was told everything was ok - therefore I'm hoping that everything is ok and back to normal for this pregnancy.
Thank you for your reply. Anyone else have experience or advice?
After an abortion, you are much more likely to pregnant than if you hadn't had one.
As far as your concern of the your uterus and the baby's health, you'll be fine. Do you think your family will force you to have another abortion? How old are you?
I am 26 years old and no my family will never force me to do anything for the rest of my life. That was the worst experience of my life and I've had a very hard time dealing with what I did. I realize now that I was meant to be pregnant from the beginning...and I'm very excited that I now can have the baby that I wanted.
I've decided not to tell my family until I'm at least 4 months, maybe 5 months pregnant.
Also, I'm curious is anyone has taken any anti-depressants while pregnant? I can tell I'm extremely moody and emotional when I'm pregnant and I'm concerned that I'll drive myself and my boyfriend completely nuts!
I have had experience with this. Now, you could be pregnant again, which I will get to later, but you could also still have the hormones from being pregnant the first time. It took me a couple months for my hormones and dna to return to normal after having my abortion. (Yes, I also had a faint positive.) I was so worried that they didn't get it all out and I may have a child with some medical issues. (Young and stupid I was.) So it may still be that your body has not yet returned to it's normal state which will cause a false reading. After a month, generally, your uteran walls have healed from the abortion, which means that it should be safe to harbor a child. You got pregnant quickly also because most women are fertile mertil after being pregnant once before and having an abortion. You are more apt to become pregnant. In my opinion, if you truely are pregnant, the child should be safe.
