Anyone been on both at the same time? I am taking Crestor and it has reduced my cholesterol dramatically. However, the weight does not come off, in spite of intense exercise and a carb-controlled, insulin resistance diet.

Now my doc wants to add Metformin to the mix. It can be a bit hard on the liver, as is Crestor. Anyone here been on both? Was it okay?

I was on both of them for awhile and had to go off the crestor because of muscle aches and back ache and then started having chest pain. I went off the crestor and have not had any since. I hope you have better luck than I did. why are they giving you metformin? are you a diabetic? that is why I take it. but it isnt working on keeping my level down I guess I will have to take shots.

I am taking Metformin (Glucophage) I am a type 2 diabetic and it works well for me, the only nasty side effect is Diarrea, and I had been on metformin for 8 years now and still the runs... I have tried a couple of other kinds for my diabetes but this seems to be the trick, when I first started it, the very first month I lost 50lbs and that entire year I lost 188lbs...WOW I know, but since I can't seem to loose the weight I need to loose another 100 now...BUT I was taking Lopid and Metformin at the same time for my tri's and I had to quit, the heart palpations were horrible, and severe chest pains, I am waiting for the doc to retest my cholesterol to see if I need future meds. Mixing meds are SO DANGEROUS and what in the hell does the doctors know???They don't take a mixture of drugs, your best information will come from a well educated Pharmacist...GOOD Luck
