The first time that happened to me, I was worried too. I was around 40 and I had two periods in a row that lasted for two weeks. I went to the OB/GYN and she said I was perimenopausal. She gave me a prescription for Provera I took for ten days (I think), then I had a whopper of a period and I was back to normal periods for six more years. Now they are erratic again. I'd get a checkup if you are too young for perimenopause.
Holy, I better be too young for menopause! I'm 22 Can stress alone cause a period to keep going? I have been under stress, but I thought that just effected it coming early/late. And there's nothing unusual about the bleeding. It's a light flow, but still enough to be considered a period!
Being as young as you are, you're hormones are maybe a bit off balance. If it continues, call your doctor. I'm sure it's nothing to be that concerned about. Sometimes when your estrogen and progesterone are not in sync with each other, that can happen.
Like others have said, call your doctor for a checkup if it doesn't subside.
It's amazing what all can affect the monthly cycle. I think the stress I am under in life scares my monthly away I learned a few years back when I moved from an altitude of 3,500 feet to sea level that changes like that also affect your body. I had my period for 2 weeks stop than start again.
Hope you feel better and you might want to see a doc..it could be a cyst.
Wow, I didn't know that could effect your monthly. I knew being around another woman alot can make you each sync up, which is quite interesting. But now a cyst? Eep! I wonder if I'd be able to get in and see my doctor right now. She switched offices and was on maternity leave, so now I am in the process of filling out forms so I can continue to be her patient. Darn good timing! :P
Well I called our telehealth centre here and they instructed me to stay away from aspirin products, take an iron supplement, & see my doctor to get my blood tested for Anemia. I hope I can get in to see her. They also suggested that I might want to take a pregnancy test (geez, I was just on the pregnancy boards! I thought it was pretty set in stone that I wasn't after getting a 7 day period, let alone a 13 days one!).. Well if stress is the cause, I don't expect it to be leaving me for another month
Try not to worry...if you are already under stress, worrying about your period will just add to your burden. Go see your doctor when you can and try to relax. You're going to be just fine. By the way, if the other poster was referring to an ovarian cyst, I just want you to know those are fairly common and happen after ovulation. They usually go away too. Your doctor will check everything out for you. Take care
Thank you SRMom I appreciate your reassurance! I've got an appointment tomorrow afternoon. I hope a pap won't be necessary, but I have to do what I have to do! I've heard of Ovarian cysts, I just didn't think of that when Johna mentioned it! Phew.. One less thing to stress about
Had my doc visit today. She said everything was normal, checked for pregnancy but was negative (duh! ) and said if it doesn't stop in a week to go in for a blood test concerning anemia. I hope it stops this week.
