Need some advice - Women's Health Message Board

Not sure if this is the right board. My husband and I recently had our first child. She is almost 9 months old. Ever since we first got married we always said that we wanted two kids close together like him and his brother or me and my brother are. We have disscused it alot and both really want another. However sometimes I wonder if I can handle it. My Husband is great and helps out alot. I had the baby blues really bad with my first. I am a stay at home mom and love the time I spend with her. My Aunt told me that I could have a risk of complcations if I get pregnant before my little one is two. My cousin told me I wouldn't be able to do it, because not many kids are as good as hers. i have family that lives close and would love to help, or be in the way.

I just wanted to see what other people had to say about this.

One of my closest friends had two very close together. Their first son was only about 6 months old when she got pregnant again. They made it work. She too was a stay at home Mom. One thing that she did was to get a part time job in the evenings once her husband was home from work. Just to get herself out of the house.

Yeah, I get stressed sometimes with just one. It has gotten better now that i help out with the children's programme at our church. I get out of the house while my husband watches our girl. He is great. He tells me to go out if I want when he comes home. Even if it is to the grocery store by myself it helps. Over all I am happy I can be with her.

health risks with having them close together? hmm. wish the doc would have warned me!

my 3 youngest. let's see. I had at one time an 8 yr old, a 2 1/2, a 13 mo old and a newborn. They are all boys. Now they are 14, 8, 6 1/2, and 5 1/2.

Yes, I was sleep deprived. No, I really don't remember much from that couple of years, Yes, it does get better, yes, it was hard, very hard at times, yes, if you don't write down stuff (cute stuff, naughty stuff) when it happens (and I didn't) then you won't remember who actually did it...

The 3 younger ones sometimes fight like cats and dogs at home. But when they are at school-they are best buds.

I agree. I had 3 kids under age 3 for a few months. Was (and is) very hard but I'm glad we did it that way. Wasn't really planned so close but that's how it worked out. My kids are now 8, 9, and 10. Was really hard when they were little but alot of fun at the same time. Now it's hard when they are all involved in different activities but fun at the same time! My only regret is that we didn't go for the 4th! After those pregnancies and births so close together I didn't think I could do it again. But would have been nice to have an even number...somebody's always left out.
