Nausea before period (NOT pregnant) - Women's Health Message Board

Hi all,
I have been getting nausea before my periods for a few years now and it is getting worse. Starting at about 4 days before I get my period I feel very nauseaous. This is on top of my usual PMS symptoms of painful breasts, migraines, acne, mood swings.
I can't take the birth control pill because it makes me very sick. I am 37 years old, so could this be peri-menopause? I don't know what to do????
I feel so sick every month...

It could be peri-menopause. I think you'll need to discuss this with your gyno to be sure. But I will say that I suffer from nausea quite frequently with my pre-menstrual cycle. I'm 26, so I know that this isn't peri-menopause in my case.

I'd read up on things about changing your dietary habits to, which can affect your PMS symptoms. i.e. too much sodium leads to bloating, more cramps etc etc. Best of luck..

Is the nausea related to your migraines by any chance? I get menstrual migraines too, usually right before and/or during my period and I often feel nausea then.

I would talk to your OB about this.
I had nausea before and during my periods. Do you get menstral cramps or pain??
You can talk to your doc about taking an anti inflamatory for these symptoms. I was on Naproxen Sodium 550 for about 18 years for my condition.

i feel like im going to throw up the week b4 my period and have for years now. it almost feels like ive had a bit too much to drink. ive looked into and it is def a symptom. not much to prevent it though.
