Angry extremely painful periods ...

Ugh, my periods are EXTREMELY painful, I tend to throw up & I can't move, I actually feel like I'm on drugs or something I pass out sometimes too, not very often though. =/ My periods are very untolerable,I also notice that when I change my tampon the blood is somewhat slimy and clotty and when I stick a new one in, so I switched to pads for awhile & that didn't change anything so I went back to my tampons .... do you know what it could be?

Definitely sounds like it could be endometriosis. You need to see your gynocologist and tell them about this problem. It is NOT okay to throw up and pass out due to menstrual pain! See your doctor ASAP! Good luck!

Re: extremely painful periods ...

I had horrible cramps that made me feel very sick. Birth control pills have helped me a lot with that, and I've been on them for 10 years now. They make my period shorter and lighter, my cramps are a lot better, and I don't have any of those other problems, like feeling dizzy or nausea. Of course, they're not for everybody. But it's something to consider if there's no other reason for the cramps. But definitely bring it up with your doctor.

Re: extremely painful periods ...

Stacezilla, it could be endometriosis. The question is have you seen a doctor for this problem and if so what were you told? If it's not endo you might want to look up dysmenorrhea. Some women develop secondary dysmenorrhea for which doctor's don't seem to have an answer. They just put you on the pill, because it's effective in controlling the problem. If you google "dysmenorrhea" you'll find your symptoms listed. If you were told that it isn't Endo and the doctor's can't tell you what's causing your problems then there are some alternatives to taking the BCP for your problem. Best advice is to see an OBGYN to hopefully get some insite to your problem.

Re: extremely painful periods ...

Hi, sorry to hear about your pain. Sounds like you could have Endo. Like the other posters said you should see a DR asap. The sooner you get treated the better. And there are meds that can control your pain.

Re: extremely painful periods ...

I agree. It sucks and it sucks even more when doctors can't give you an answer. The clotting could be due to the fact that you are cramping so badly that it's difficult for the blood to pass through. I could suggest a natural product that has worked for me, but you shouldn't take something to relieve the pain and associated symptoms until you've seen a doctor. You could land up just masking the real problem. In the long run that could be worse then what you are currently experiencing.

Re: extremely painful periods ...

I was also dx with secondary dysmonoreah(SP) when I was 21 as well as severe ovulation pain. I was put on the pill, was also told it would help as well as Naproxen Sodium 550. The pill did help my flow it got alot lighter, stopped my ovulation pain but did absolutely nothing for my sevre period pain. The naproxen did help some. Not totaly, I still got ill.
I personaly did not like the pill for me. had problems with it so I went off of it and just took the naproxen. Eventulay I did go back on it about 6 years ago and it helped the same way as I mentioned for about 4 years, of coarse still had to take the naproxen.
I ended up with a Lap and d&c almost a year ago and it did show Severe case of Pelvic Congestion Syndrome.(amongst other things) is Pelvic congestion the same thing as secondary dys??
i would recomend a Lap. It may help you with a better dx!!!
