Is my labia minora normal?

I am very self conscious about my labia minora. i know it sounds weird to be talking about it but i want to know is my color normal. Im light skinned in my labia minora is dark (dark brown). I know most light skinned girls labia minora are pinkish in color.I never had sex because im very uncomfortable. Is it normal? i dont even want to get close in relationships because of this! A ny advice will help!

Re: Is my labia minora normal?

May I ask, what ethnicity are you? This makes a lot of difference in the pigmentation (pink or brown) of your labia minora. I kind of wondered about this myself until a certain point in my life a few years ago when I decided to satisfy my curiousity by looking at porn. Really. I am not an advocate for porn, but it was just what I needed to get my own paranoid ideas that I looked "strange down there".

I went on a total spree of checking out labias. I went on the internet, I rented movies. (the lesbian sites and movies show this better.) What I found was that women of color who have some kind of ethnic background in their family or darker pigment to their skins, even though they may be very light for their ethnic group, still had the brown labias, whereas the true "white girls" had pink labias. Also, I think most Asian (Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese) women I saw had pink labias, with the exception of some Thai, Phillipina, and Indonesian women. LOL, this was how I could tell when someone wasn't a natural blonde or had some "color" in their genetic background (with few exceptions, only caucasians are natural blondes. If your hair was blonde, but your labia was dark brown, then...). All the black women had brown labias, regardless of how light-skinned they were, as did all East Indians, Latina, Native American, and most Middle-Eastern women.

Did you know that back in the 1970's, when the women's liberation movement was going full speed, there were groups of women around the country who would get together to have "viewing parties" or gatherings where they looked at their privates, looked at each other's private parts, as a way of becoming totally comfortable and familiar with the female anatomy? They would look at their labias and check out the inside, too. Just to let you know this idea is nothing strange and that you should check out some photos to satisfy yourself that you are not strange in any way. It did me a world of good to look at other women and see that there is wild variety out there and I am not strange.
