sex while having a uti - Women's Health Message Board

Hi ladies, I was just wondering if anyone knew it if was okay to have sex while being treated for a uti. I am not feeling many symptoms currently, so I don't /think/ it would bother me... but then again, I don't want to aggrivate it anymore. Just wanting to know if anyone else has experienced this... both dh and I are going crazy! LOL thanks!

Hi there

Speaking from experience (i get uti all the time) i personally wouldnt recommend having sex while you still have the infection or are still taking medicine for it.

I have done this before and it just made it worse before it made it better even tho the symptoms had gone

But everyone is different and you might be ok with it

thanks sk1pp3r, it's nice to hear from personal experience. I haven't had a bladder infection before (to my knowledge)... the last time I had a UTI it went straight to my kidneys and didn't know this until I was vomiting for three days with a high fever and extreme diarrhea. Didn't even associate my back pain with all of that... boy, was that a learning experience.

Anyhow, I don't want to repeat that again... so I think I may just play it safe and wait a few days. Thanks again
