Angry prone to bacterial infections?

For years now I've had almost constant bacterial vaginal infections. The gynocologist just says I must be prone to them but doesn't seem to have any reasoning for that. There's got to be something I can do. This makes me so unbelievably uncomfortable and miserable! I always wipe front to back, I shower daily, I use feminine cleansing wipes after sex and I even take an acidophilus supplement daily. I have been diagnosed with genital herpes but the infections have been going on a lot longer than that so I'm not sure if that has anything to do with the frequency. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Re: prone to bacterial infections?

For a year I had 6 Bacterial infections. Then I went 1 1/2 yrs w/out one. It was amazing. And I have one again right now! argh! But I think I know why I got it so I'm not AS concerned as I used to be. But this is what I changed a 1 1/2 ago. I had my b/f treated, I stopped using tampons, I stopped taking baths, and I take acidophilus. I mean...I don't know what worked or what didn't, but something WAS working right. And now I have two reasons I think I could have gotten it back and they are both avoidable, so hopefully this will be the last one. I'm a firm believer of getting your partner treated. *I* think it's transferable as do some drs, but other drs don't.

Re: prone to bacterial infections?

What did you have your b/f treated with? I've been thinking of asking about that. I always get Clindesse (clindamycin vaginal cream) because I can't take oral Flagyl so I was just curious.

Re: prone to bacterial infections?

My Dr. gave me a prescription for him...i think it was flagyl but for a guy. It said everything the same except the shape of the pill was different. It seemed to work...well for a year and a half anyway! It's definitly worth a shot. If it doesn't work it doesn't, but it may end up being the answer you've been looking for!
