Unhappy in pain

I'm new to this site, new to posting and just posted in cervical and overian. I have been seeing a doctor for ovarian cyst since the beginning of the year. I am 36 years old and a mom of a 13 year old boy. I was always regular on my periods every 25 days. In Jan, I wasn't. I had my period for one day. I felt very bloated and crampy for the next few weeks. Then I had my period again and lasted 2 weeks, haven't had one since. I went my primary doctor and he sent me for an ultrasound. Found a cyst on my left ovary. Repeated the ultra sound in March to find I now have 5 ovarian cyst- 3 in left ovary and 2 in right. Stabbing pains when I sneeze, cough or yell. For the past 6 months or so I have been unusually tired, especially around the time I should receive my period. I also am very crampy, am extremely bloated- I look like I am 6 months pregnant, have a hard time sleeping, have night sweats, feel like I always have to to go to restroom- and cant hold it and never feel like I am totally relieved and its hard for me to make a bowl movement- sorry for being so graphic. I am missing a bunch of work because I am so tired and always feeling so sickly. They also found a bunch of fibroids in my uterus. Finally I saw a great new obgyn this week and he spent time understanding what was going on, I told them him most except for the bowel thing, kinda embarrassed. He said he wanted to do his own ultrasound to see where the blood was flowing to the ovaries and said it looks like for sure surgery. Just weather it was him or an oncology surgeon, he explained they are more aggressive. Have a follow up this Tuesday to go over options. Since the ultrasound I have more pain than usual. Dont know if they could have hit something, not sure but the pain is making me sick to my stomach and sweat. Taking loritabs they prescribed me, they are kinda working but still have a lot of pain. Just hoping someone knows how I feel.... I appreciate any replies, I am getting sad as I just want an end.

Unhappy Re: in pain

Hi Gabby, I am 24. I have been having pain like that when I yell, cough, sneeze on both sides of my pelvis but I know it's my Uterus.

Just want to ask you when you have your periods are they heavy when you get them because mine are and it feels as if I'm in LABOUR, it's horrible, the blood unusually a dark maroon color with a few clots and then it's bright red and heavy flow (sorry to be graphic).

I also have trouble before period time as I get moody about a week before it happens to the point of having a breakdown....it's not nice at all.

I also swell up (lots of fluid), I go up about a dress size for a week. I also feel sick, the middle of my belly just under the ribcage near my breastbone swells and is firm and tender to touch.

Then to make matters worse for the 1st day I will be constipated to the point of not being able to pass my faeces sometimes and then the day after I will have diorreah until my period finishes which is about a week. I also can't hold my bladder, slight bladder weakness (giving birth to 2 kids did that).

I would like to know what your diagnosis is so I know what to expect when I see my GP as what you are going through sounds exactly like what I am going though.

I hope it gets better for you though, I hate pain as well even though my pain threshold is high, sometimes I wish I wasn't female, males just don't understand.

Re: in pain

Thanks for the reply. My periods are heavy and when I get them it does feels as if I'm in labor, with the same a dark maroon color with a few clots and then it's bright red and heavy flow, but only last about 2 to 3 days. Before my period I am usually extremely sensitive and emotional and also gain about 7 pounds. How do you know the pain is your uterus? My pain now is extremely low on both sies, and very sharp. My gyn told me to go to the ER when I called yesterday, but I hate hospitals so I am doing everything possible to not go, but I dont think I can take it much longer. I will let you know what they tall me on Tuesday and I hope it gets better for you too!

Re: in pain

Hi Gabby
I too dealt whith ovary problems and uteris problems. I suffered with constant massive ovarian cysts and clusters of cysts, plus constant pain like I was always gonna get my period.

I see you have a history of heavy bleeding?? That does come from Fibroids. My mom had them. Also heavy bleeding can also come from Adenomyosis (internal Endometriosis) of the uteris. I also had that. You may also have Pelvic Congestion Syndrome. I had that and causes irregular blood flow and severe cramping.
I have always had problems sice I was 13. I was on naproxen Sodium 550 for my menstral pain sice I was about 22 and was also told to go on the pill. I tried the pill for a couple of months, but didnt like the weight gain and svere mood swings so I stopped. Also when I was 22 I started getting severe ovulation pain.
Eventualy I did go on the pill about 7 years ago because I was tired of taking home preggo tests all the time. I was always very irregular with my cycle.

The pill did help. It got me regulated,it stopped the severe ovulation pain and made my period much lighter. But it did absolutley nothing for the period pain, so I also had to continue taking the Naproxen.
2 years ago while still on the pill i developed severe lower left abdominal pain. It felt like I was ovulating. Was sent for a Transvaginal. It turned out I had a massive cyst on my left ovary. The cysts wouldnt stop.I was living in MRI's having Transvaginals constantly !! Then I was also developing massive pain continuesly, not just during my cycle.
My old OB was no help I suffered for 1 year straight. Found a new OB and had a Laparoscopy and D&C. Found out I had:
severe case of Pelvic Congestion Syndrome
Enlarged and Boggey Uteris (which my old OB new about 8 years ago and did nothing)
my ovaries where covered in blood from rupturing cysts.
I ended with a hyst 1 month after the lap. Actualy it will be 1 year on May 9th since my hyst. Everything removed but my cervix.
Pathology confirmed Moderate to severe Adenomyosis of the Uteris, and enlared ovaries that were full of cysts, PCOS.
I would talk to your doc about possibly the BC Pill. It might help. I would highly recomed a Laparoscopy. Even possibly a MRI. I had my MRI done 8 years ago due to a back problem and found out my Uteris was Enlarged with a mass, and my old OB blew it off saying it was nothing. Obviously it was something. It was Endometriosis of the Uteris.

Do you suffer with Ovulation pain?? Are you irregular? Not to scare you but has anyone did a CA-125 on you to help rule out cancer?? I had one done about 2 years ago when this happened. It is always good to have done especialy if you are having cycts. My old OB didnt give me that test like he should of but my gastro doc did. He was smart enough to look at all the options. My was normal thank god!!
I highly recomened these tests. Talk to your doc about this.
Like I said I suffered with problems since I was 13, I ended up with a hyst at the age of 39. Honestly i dont have any regrets !!
if you have any questions please let me know and good luck on tuesday and keep us updated.
