Lump in Vagina... Please, Help - Women's Health Message Board

Hi, I've had these tiny white lumps in my vagina for a couple of years (months?), but I never thought anything of it because they were so small (kinda like little mosquito-bites, only it's white-tish)... until yesterday.

Yesterday, when I was showering, I found out that the lump had increased in size (overnight?

)- it's now like the size of a small marble. If you put pressure on it, it kinda hurts, and it doesn't move when I try to move the 'marble' around. The 'center' of the 'marble' has a purple/blackish-spot on it (kinda like the color of a scar that you get after being bruised... only it has no elevation; it sorta just blends into the skin.) This is only on the left side of the vagina; the right side seems normal, and is smooth, with some small, minor bumps (like goosebumps).

This is really bothering me; I couldn't sleep all night worrying about it. Can someone please tell me what this is? I know I should probably see a doctor for this, but I dont know how to bring up the topic to my parents.

And I also want to wait a while to see if it goes away.

Oh, and I'm a virgin - never had a partner, and in the teens.

hi,
without being too personal, can i ask where exactly the lump is? ie, inside or outside. its just you can get something called a blocked bartolin gland (glands that lubricate the vagina) which sounds similar. is it really painful?
the goosebumps you mentioned are normal by the way most people i know have got them

If it's down in the vaginal area, it could very well be a Bartholin's gland cyst. These cysts, from what I've read online, are usually excised. If they're just drained, they will most likely recur. A Word catheter is often used if they're drained to help with the drainage and is left in for a few weeks and then removed by the doctor.

A visit to the OB/GYN should yield the answer as to what this really is. I hope you get it sorted out. I have a very small sebaceous cyst in my gyno region, but it's so small that at least 2 docs can't/won't do anything about it. However, since yours is easily visible, etc., I'd tend to think that your doc should be able to get a good look-see at what's going on.
