Hello - I'm here because I am a little nervous about an upcoming appointment with a gynecologist.
This is going to sound bad, but I am almost 24 years old and I have never, ever been to a gynecologist for my yearly exams. I know that I should have gone a long time ago, but because of a traumatic situation, I could never force myself to go.
You see, when I was seventeen years old I was forced into an abortion. It was very traumatic for me and I swore that I would never let a doctor touch me again. (At least not that kind of doctor).
So I have put off the exams when I knew that I should have been going. I was too afraid of being traumatized again...or hearing bad news.
My aunt recently told me about how great her OB is and she convinced me to schedule an appointment. So I will be seeing this new OB on the 27th of July and I am SO nervous!
Any advice from other women on what to expect while I am there? Should I tell my OB about the past abortion?
Any advice is greatly appreciated!
Thanks so much for taking the time to read!
